Who is Pam Stevens?

Pam Stevens began writing for a horse magazine in her late twenties, where she wrote articles and did photography work. Always an avid reader, one day, she decided, “I can do this!” and she began writing The Reluctant Courier. Drawing on her own experiences working with horses and animals and people in general, she created Sandi, a young, independent rodeo contestant. Even though the individuals who read The Reluctant Courier all said it was “great” and “better than many published books,” her writing got sidelined by life.

Now at 70 years old, after four children, seven grandchildren, running a couple of businesses, a divorce, a successful remarriage, the death of her father, and eventually her mother did she decide to self-publish The Reluctant Courier. Her hope is that her readers enjoy this book and the others she is working on as much as she enjoys writing them.

The Reluctant Courier

With the mystery of a mysterious envelope begins the story of Sandra Stanford, a petite girl with a hint of sadness in her Irish green eyes. The victim hands her the envelope with a dying wish: get it to Congressman Steven Hoyt. With the envelope now in her possession, Sandra must race against time to find Congressman Hoyt before those who want to keep the envelope’s contents hidden find her.

Praise for The Reluctant Courier

“I couldn’t put this book down! From the moment the mysterious envelope became Sandra’s to deliver, I was hooked. The author’s vivid descriptions throughout the book made me feel like I was right there with Sandra, on the run against all odds. I was on the edge of my seat until the very end, eagerly turning page after page to see if Sandra would live up to her potential of badass female protagonist. She did not disappoint! A thrilling ride from start to finish!”

—Tahlia

“I’m usually not one for mystery novels with secret missions and whatnot, but ‘The Reluctant Courier’ had me captivated from the first page. Sandra Stanford is such a relatable heroine! She took on the responsibility of delivering that letter like I would take on something bigger than myself. And the suspense? The suspense kept me second-guessing every bit of the plot. I know the second-guessing was worth it because Pam Stevens wants you to! I finished the book in one go – my dinner had to wait, of course, cold pasta, nothing bad. I can always make more. Can’t wait to read what Pam Stevens writes next. She has earned herself a dedicated fan!”

—Chastity

“My experience with this book was a little different. You see, I felt dearly for the character because I have myself been in a similar predicament – though nothing as serious as delivering a dying man’s message, LOL. This book had me on an emotional rollercoaster from start to finish. Sandra’s story had me feeling anxious, excited, and even a little scared at times. The author did an excellent job of building tension throughout the novel, and I held my breath every time there was a climax. But amid all the suspense, there were also moments of heartwarming connection between Sandra and the people she meets along the way. The Stanford-Hoyt romance has me sold! ‘The Reluctant Courier’ is a must-read for anyone who loves a gripping mystery with a strong, relatable heroine.”
